From Burnout to Purpose: The Journey Behind RTSC

In 2017, I found myself at a crossroads that I never saw coming - burned out, exhausted, and questioning how it had come to this.
I was juggling a demanding role, determined to stay with a company I loved, all while carrying a weight I hadn’t yet faced: grief.
The year before, I had lost my mum. At the time, I was in denial that her life was nearing its end. Looking back, I now see how much-unprocessed grief added to the strain I was under. Like many people, I kept going. I thought that’s what you were supposed to do.
But eventually, everything caught up with me.
Burnout forced me to stop, reflect, and realise that I needed support but didn’t know how to ask for it.
That realisation was a turning point. I came to understand how vital early, confidential support is—someone outside your immediate world who understands, who listens without judgment, and who can offer objective guidance when you need it most.
By 2021, I was supporting my dad through his final months. This time, I did it differently. I gave myself permission to slow down and prioritise my well-being.
During those quiet days, we had some of the most meaningful conversations of my life—one of which sparked a vision I couldn’t ignore.
That’s when RTSC was born.
I knew then that I wanted to build what I’d once needed: confidential, proactive support that helps people stay well long before they hit crisis point, a space where people feel safe, heard, and empowered.
Overcoming Challenges
Building RTSC has tested me in ways I never expected - and strengthened me in ways I didn’t know I needed.
Starting a business while navigating grief demanded everything I had. Supporting my dad helped clarify my purpose but also reminded me that you can’t pour from an empty cup.
That’s a lesson that sits at the core of RTSC today: we all need to take care of ourselves, especially when we’re supporting others.
Creating a service people can trust wasn’t optional. It had to be built on rock-solid foundations - confidentiality, independence, and ethical coaching practices that put the individual first. From day one, I knew this couldn’t be lip service. It had to be real.
Of course, there were moments of doubt. Would people understand the value of early support? Would they reach out before things fell apart? But every time someone said, “I wish I’d had this sooner,” I knew RTSC was answering a very real and urgent need.
Convincing organisations to shift from reactive support to proactive care isn’t easy, but things are changing. The conversation is evolving. Businesses are aware that early intervention and independent support aren’t just “nice to have” - they’re essential.
This journey has taught me that persistence matters, as does staying true to your mission. And when you lead with empathy, people listen.
So, what’s next for RTSC?
This is personal. RTSC was born from lived experience - but it’s built for everyone who needs a different kind of support at work.
My determination to make independent, confidential coaching the norm in workplaces runs deep. I know how much it’s needed and the difference it makes.
RTSC is already making an impact, but we’re just getting started. I’m committed to growing our reach by working with forward-thinking organisations and offering individuals a safe space to stay well, grow, and thrive.
My vision is simple: a working world where early independent support is standard, not the exception, and where no one feels they have to struggle in silence.
That future is within reach. And I am relentless in making it happen.
